Dips behind back, also known as tricep dips or reverse dips, is a bodyweight exercise that targets the triceps and the chest muscles. To perform this exercise, one can use parallel bars, dip stations, or sturdy chairs. The start position is with hands gripping the bars or sides of the stationary object behind your back, feet on the ground and hips raised in front of the bars. One then lowers the body by bending elbows at a 90-degree angle and bringing the shoulders below the elbows, then pushing back up into starting position. It's important to keep the elbows pointed straight back, not flared out to the sides, to ensure proper form and target the triceps optimally. If the exercise is too intense, one can modify the movement by extending the legs forward, which will result in less resistance against the triceps.
