Seated one-arm cross cable laterals, also commonly known as one-arm cable lateral raises, are a variation of the traditional lateral raise exercise. This exercise is a great addition to any shoulder workout routine as it specifically targets the lateral head of the deltoid muscle. The seated position helps to isolate the shoulder and prevent the use of momentum to complete the movement.
To perform this exercise, one should sit on a bench with a cable machine on their side. Using one hand, grasp the handle attached to the high pulley of the cable machine and place your other hand on top of your working shoulder. From this starting position, slowly lift the handle until your arm is parallel to the ground. Pause for a brief moment before lowering the weight back to the starting position. This exercise should be repeated for multiple reps before switching sides.
