Sissy squats are a bodybuilding exercise that target the quadriceps, which are the muscles located in the front of the thigh. This exercise is usually performed with a sissy squat machine or using a dumbbell or barbell to keep balance. However, sissy squats can also be performed without equipment, using only body weight.
To perform sissy squats, start with your feet shoulder-width apart and your hands placed on your hips. Slowly lean backward while keeping your feet flat on the ground until you feel a stretch in your quads. Hold for one second, and then return to the starting position by contracting your quadriceps and pulling yourself up using your hands on your hips. To make the exercise more challenging, hold a weight or place your feet on an elevated surface. Sissy squats can help increase lower body strength, improve balance and stability, and reduce the risk of injury to the knees and hips.
