Milk Thistle is well recognized for its hepatoprotectant (liver protecting) properties and has been shown to support the liver's production of glutathione. Glutathione, a cellular antioxidant, helps to reduce the damaging effect of free radicals. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) and Methionine have been included to further support the production of glutathione. Peel Here for more information Please Recycle. The liver is the largest gland in the body, playing a number of key roles in metabolism. The liver performs numerous functions, a few of which are glycogen storage, plasma protein synthesis, and the detoxification of xenobiotics (foreign compounds). It also produces bile, which is critical for proper digestion of dietary fats. With these and additional synergistic nutrients and herbs, this combination provides comprehensive support for liver function and overall health. Precautions

Because artichoke and dandelion root may have an effect on bile secretion, caution must be exercised by individuals with obstruction of the bile ducts, gallstones, or other serious diseases of the gallbladder, and physician supervision is advised. Do Not Eat Freshness Packet. Keep in Bottle. Animal studies suggest that dandelion may worsen the side effects associated with lithium, a medication used to treat bipolar disorder. Animal studies indicate that Scute may interfere with the absorption of cyclosporine. NAC may affect ACE inhibiting medications and immunosuppressive medications such as azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, prednisolone, or prednisone. In addition, NAC may affect nitroglycerin and isosorbide (two medications commonly used to treat chest pain) Cautions and Interactions Milk Thistle may affect the liver's metabolism of alcohol and acetominophen, butyrophenones (such as haloperidol) and phenothiazines (such as chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, and promethazine), phenytoin, halothane, cisplatin and cyclosporine. NAC may also affect the body's metabolism of both cisplatin and doxorubicin.
